Jeff Bolduc
Jeff Bolduc has been a freelance composer and arranger since graduating from the Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors Degree in Composition. He also holds a Masters Degree in Music Education from Boston University. Jeff is well known throughout the northeast US for his work with some of the most successful Drum Corps to come out of that region, and has been a regular arranger for Drum Corps in the UK dating back to 1986. Most recently he was the arranger and brass caption head for the DCI Div. II World Champion East Coast Jazz in 2005, and the arranger for the 2008 DCI Open Class Bronze Medalist Jersey Surf. He has arranged for many marching bands and drum corps, and has written commissioned pieces for concert bands, jazz bands, and regional honors bands.
In his 25th year as a public school band director, Jeff is the Director of Symphonic and Stage Bands at Marshall Simonds Middle School in Burlington, MA. He has also served as the Director of the University of New Hampshire Wildcat Marching Band, the Wakefield HS Warrior Marching Band, and the Norwood HS Mustang Marching Band. He has taught middle school in Londonderry, NH and his hometown of Danvers, MA.
Jeff is presently the Music Caption Head for the Massachusetts Judges Association. He has served as a music judge for every marching band association in the northeast, Drum Corps International, many district and all-state auditions around New England, and for scholastic music festivals throughout the area. He has also served as a guest conductor for numerous concert and jazz bands at district festivals in Massachusetts and New Hampshire since 1992, and has presented clinics and workshops at all-state and regional teacher conferences. His article ‘So You Want To Be a Judge?’ was published by SBO Magazine in the April, 2009 edition.
Jeff is the owner of Jeffrey Alan Media Music, a music production company that specializes in soundtrack, commercial, and industrial video productions. He was the music composer/producer for Home Improvement Magazine, which aired on independent stations across the country in the mid-late 90’s, and has scored and produced music for television pilot shows as well as a number of independent and documentary films. He began scoring the tentatively titled Cranberry Hill pilot show project in September of 2010.
Mr. Bolduc is also the founder of 1st Place Designs, an online pageantry design company specializing in custom musical arrangements and band method books. His 1st Place Band Builders method book and 1st Place Etudes are available through his website: 1stplacedesigns.com
As a trumpet and trombone player, Jeff has performed with community theatre groups and concert ensembles, and has been a sought after private lesson instructor for many years. He recently was been hired to develop a comprehensive wind and percussion curriculum for The Real School of Music. This project will include individual and group studies, and an in-depth assessment system that will foster a student’s development as they continue to study at the school year after year.
