Time - The Music of Pink Floyd

Built around the theme of clocks keeping time (or the passage of time), the music of Pink Floyd provides your ensemble with music begging for visual imagery and lots of color. Starting with an intro from ‘Brain Damage’, this theme appears later in the program and introduces the clock sounds that connect the three movements of this show. The percussion score requires a variety of clock effects (some subtle, some very obvious). The first two movements also include include ‘Time’ and ‘Us and Them’. The closer begins with ‘Wish You Were Here’ into the driving 3/4 ‘Eclipse’.
You will need to clear performing/arranging rights for this show but this show has cleared any rights issues in the past with minimal effort.
Movement 1 - Brain Damage / Time (2:27)
The high velocity intro starts backfield as it it builds into the first hit from ‘Brain Damage’.
The clocks are introduced, and the production of ‘Time’ provides a high energy rock opener.
Movement II - Us and Them / Brain Damage (3:12)
The rhythm section lays down ‘Us and Them’ for a duet, and then a woodwind feature, to play over the top. Finally the brass feature joins the party, and builds to a big hit, which then returns to the receding rhythm section groove. Out of this appears the reprise of ‘Brain Damage’. After a piccolo solo the full ensemble let’s it fly with a dramatic power moment. The piccolo soloist reappears as the clock are reintroduced and winds down.
Wish You Were Here / Eclipse (1:46)
The opening pit theme returns, and a sextet plays independent obligato parts over the top of the unison ‘Wish You Were Here’ (this could be played by a few, all, or added in as needed). This leads to the quick ‘Eclipse’ and builds to a grand ending.
