The music of Chick Corea’s Spanish Fantasy album provided the inspiration for this show, as performed by the DCI Div. II Silver Medalist East Coast Jazz in 2004. This show claimed the high Music GE and high Brass captions at the DCI championships, and has been a request of fans since we announced 1st Place Designs programming. This is as close to an exact transcription as possible with tasteful woodwind additions, and minor editing to accommodate the skill level of a Grade 4-5 ensemble. If you‘ve got the players, this is a show they will love. Raw energy, great licks, and a close transcription to the original Chick Corea material.
You will need to clear performing/arranging rights for this showm but Chick Corea is well known for granting permission to any marching ensemble to bring his music to the field.
Celebration Overture/Armando’s Rhumba (2:42)
Starting with a light and airy pit intro, the winds enter facing backfield, and turn into the first hit. The Rhumba features a wind sextet with pit, before the whole ensemble takes overture. If you‘ve got the fingers, this charts got the licks.
Spanish Fantasy Pt. I (1:18)
The percussion feature of this show, this features great integration between pit and battery before brass features join the party, and builds to a big finish.
My Spanish Heart (2:22)
A beautiful ballad featuring your low brass, then a trumpet soloist. Solo dancers, elegant interplay between guard and winds - gorgeous and perhaps the signature moment of this show.
Spanish Fantasy Pt. IV (2:20)
We have found a way to put this 6/8 classic into 4/4 without losing any of the fire from the original. This is one of the greatest closers available.
