This show is a tribute to the African-American experience. Using spirituals and Gospel favorites, this show loosely follows the journey from slavery to the Presidency. The opener is designed to portray the toiling in the fields with small groups hinting at a few common work songs before building to Amazing Grace. The rest of the show is a combination of well-known pieces with original material sprinkled in to connect the story. Lot’s of visual opportunities for the guard, including unique costuming and flag designs (we can help you with these).


This is a rights-free program that uses public domain selections.
You don’t need to deal with rights clearance - we own it.


Dreams of Freedom (2:42)
The stage is set as three different groups are toiling in the fields. With hints at different spirituals, the ensemble builds and unifies into a concluding hit on ‘Amazing Grace’.


Joshua (1:18)
A classic swing chart that features every section and really drives throughout.


Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child/Free At Last (2:22)
A beautiful ballad featuring a trumpet soloists, this builds to a soaring and emotional wind feature. From there the percussion take over in Free At Last, representing the chains of bondage being broken.


Freedom Closer (2:20)
Starting with the chorale ‘Balm in Gilead’, we then head into the uplifting celebration that is ‘When All God’s Children’ featuring percussion, and a trumpet/trombone duet. We end with a reprise that will bring the house down.
